The Prince George’s County Division of Vital Records is open to the public for in-person services by appointment. Walk-in services are accommodated on a case-by-case basis, and availability is based on our daily schedule. Appointments are preferred and strongly encouraged to ensure timely service.
To help ensure an efficient visit, please review the following appointment guidelines before arriving.
- Arrive on time for appointment. There is a 10-minute grace period. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, you may be asked to reschedule or experience a longer wait time for service.
- Check in at the front desk when you arrive.
- Provide all necessary documents and complete either the birth or death certificate application, based on your appointment.
- Payment is due on the day of service. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, money orders, and credit or debit cards (Visa, Discover, MasterCard). We do not accept Apple Pay or any form of tap payments. Physical cards are required.
- Civil marriage ceremonies are conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Only the couple and their 10 guests will be permitted inside the building to ensure proper distancing.
- The cost of the ceremony is $25.00 payable by cash, credit card or money order.
- Certified copies of your marriage license may be provided the day of your ceremony for an additional $5.00 per certified copy.
- Your marriage license will be issued on the same day as your appointment;
however, you will have to wait 48-hours after the issuance of your marriage license before you can get married.
- Your ceremony must be performed in Prince George’s County.
- Only the applicants are permitted inside the building at the time of the appointment.
- You must complete your marriage license application in its entirety prior to your appointment.
